An improving economy, low mortgage-interest rates, low real estate prices, and giant government incentives have combined to throw open the window of opportunity for home ownership in Marin County.
Savvy business owners and managers are urged to call Northbay Family Homes and arrange for one of their unique educational workshops, “Employers Empowering Homeownership” (EEH), to teach employees the strategies to safely buy a home in today’s real estate market.
“Employers are well positioned to provide trusted, just-in-time financial education, in locations that are convenient to employees,” said Laura Levine, vice-president of Northbay Family Homes. “EEH teaches employees how they can become Marin County homeowners, and the workshops are offered at no cost to the employer.”
Bank of America considers the EEH information so important that the lending giant awarded NFH a grant of $10,000 to fund the workplace seminars.
Kaiser Permanente and W. Bradley Electric, Inc. are two of the many forward-thinking employers that have already arranged EEH workshops at their places of business.
“The Employers Empowering Homeownership presentation was very informational and sparked much interest and discussion from people wanting to own their own homes,” said Michael Nann, vice-president of WBE Security Control Systems, a division of W. Bradley Electric Inc. “This type of program is a win/win for employers and employees. Employees who own their own homes become more stable and self-reliant. Home ownership helps eliminate transient employment. The other wonderful attribute of homeownership is that homeowners care and contribute to their communities, making them better places to live.”
Levine is looking for other employers who are willing to present EEH seminars on-site.
“The tough economy has made some people believe that they’ll never own a home,” says Levine. “In fact, just the opposite is true. The federal government’s economic stimulus plan has put home ownership well within the reach of many people — especially first-time home buyers. And prices for Marin County real estate remain low. Our seminars teach employees how to get ready to buy homes; and we provide the safe, reliable financial structure so those homes stay affordable.”
Northbay Family Homes works closely with private sector homebuilders, property owners and lenders as well as cities and counties to expand home-buying opportunities for workforce families. During its 30-year history the Novato company has built, or partnered with others to build, more than 4,000 affordable homes in California, most of those in the North Bay.
